Tech Nerd
I've always had a love for technology.
Unfortunately, the schools that I went to had limited computer resources. Then came MySpace. I still remember how excited I was to learn that I could customize my page. To this day I cringe remembering how many flashing scrolling marquees my page had. (Those pages were a UX designer’s worse nightmare. Imagine Lisa Frank notebooks but on a screen) I soon became my friends' go-to person for custom pages. This allowed me to hone both my HTML and CSS skills. This only grew my passion for creating and technology. However, back then I didn't know that passion could be translated into a career.
So, I started a career in customer service. Who knew sitting in a call center could be so boring? No, seriously it was mind numbingly boring. I knew I needed a challenge. I thought about what I had enjoyed about the job I had held for 6 years. I realized that the best part of work was training new employees on the software. I didn't see a career in training people in software.
What about creating software? I started to google creating software. Thanks to the "great" advertising algorithms of Facebook and Google my timeline became filled with information about becoming a software engineer. I came across a local bootcamp. I saw no reason to wait I started class the same day. While going thru bootcamp I was able to expand my knowledge of JavaScript and various frameworks. Thru my professional career and academic career I have been able to build on my previous knowledge of JavaScript while building fundamental understanding of Java, C++, and UI/UX design.
My curiosity, love for challenges, and passion for design and technology has fueled my thirst for knowledge and creating beautiful UI.
